I’m a sucker for little beauty kits. They’re fun and make ideal gifts for so many of the women in my friend group. And the Lanolips #1 Essential Lip Tints Trio in particular I’ve gifted a couple of times. Lanolips makes really nice tinted balms, and they do it without petrolatum, parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, or artificial fragrance. The key ingredient, lanolin, mimics our skin’s oil, and is a sustainable resource. It’s a by-product of wool washing. (A sheep’s wool keeps growing and growing, so they need to be shorn regularly.) The balms are boosted with shea butter and vitamin E, a well-known antioxidant.

But what really makes these balms giftable are the sheer shades. You don’t need to wonder whether a particular shade is too bright, or too dark. That’s because they’re translucent, for that perfect pretty pop that’s never “too much.” My personal favorite of the three natural hues is Rose. Portable balms that soften lips and polish up your look with a mirror-free swipe? That’s a gift that is pretty much impossible not to love.
